about

Category: Unhurried

This is one of our jams, the first CDR I picked from the pile. In theory it was chosen at random but oddly I'd just located the CDR I was looking for but still picked this instead. Presumably on a hunch or recognition of the CDR.
I'm going to listen to them all eventually but I liked this first one so much I thought you would too. As there's no Phil to tell me which bits are best and where I should cut, I'll do very little editing, only the essentials. I don't have time anyway.

Update: no edits on this one. I know I should have but as the tracks flow into each other, it'd take time to do right. So it is a bit quiet in places, wonky in others. See if you can spot the unintended wonk? A good plan for a Friday afternoon actually, but I digress.

Re: the JIC's huge archive of work, if I like something as I trawl through I'll post it, if I don't I won't. I won't start doing complicated stuff,or any stuff. It is what it is. I may tweak at some point but maybe as raw jams they are interesting. I'm biased of course.

As long as Bandcamp will let me, I'll make all the JIC archive stuff free /pay if you like. Should have done it all sooner. Lots of love.

Phil Smillie & Paul Nagle did this sometime in May 2005

Sounds like the product of a single day quickly edited to make a CDR in Wavelab. I didn't even bother to line up the track start and ends, suggesting I did a fast and brutal montage job, May have gone overboard and overcooked the samples (this did sometimes happen at the end of a long session, typically during Phil's pack-up time). With luck should be versions on hard disk that are untainted, should even be able to find original Montage.
